Ciracas is a mixed Christian and Muslim suburb of Jakarta. It is a neighborhood in which there are families with many children. Arlin and Martius minister to the church at Ciracas. Arlin is a well educated school teacher whose primary occupation is teaching Christian Education under the Department of Religion. Her vocation is preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ to those in her neighborhood and area of influence. She is supported in her Christian work by funds provided by Indonesian Christian Mission.
Together with members of the Ciracas Church, and with the help of a loan from Indonesian Christian Mission ICM, Arlin has built a house which has the dual usage of a home for her and Martius and a meeting place for the Ciracas congregation. The congregation of the Ciracas Church has committed to buy this house from Arlin as the permanent building for the Church.
Through the years, working with Bob and Jan, Arlin and members of the church have built up a small, but dedicated, assembly of Christians. Men from the church are currently studying, under the tutelage of Bob MacLean, in preparation for assuming the office of the eldership. Beyond this and the day to day task of evangelizing the neighborhood, the congregation is placing emphasis on building a Bible School. They currently have many neighborhood children attending classes. Some parents of the children attending are enthusiastic about their children’s involvement.
Arlin and Martius themselves are new parents having adopted a baby boy about a year ago.
